Curious to know if anyone else's lo likes to keep putting their toys into their potty while they are sitting there using the potty .

ALL the time. I just make sure that the toys she puts in are washable.

Yes! Here is good advice, don't let your LO "hold" your iPhone while they are sitting on the potty!! Somehow the phone is the perfect size to slide right into the potty.

Oh my DS likes to do this too!

So I never look away and my hands are always ready to stop his hands from going in or to stop him from putting his toys in.

oh goodness. i would not get anything done. i tried a multitude of things yesterday,
i put tinfoil on the part she reaches in
did not work. she loved to play with it.
saran wrap (would have been first choice, but we dont usually have any)
worked with a rubber band for a bit, and then she got that off and i had to quick take it away from her.
at a later potty time (first thing in the morning potty time is usally when i am cooking, so i just cant sit with her and watch her hands) i tried putting a puppet on my foot and setting my foot over the place where she could reach.
although the duck puppet was a bit "all up in her face" it seemed to work best.

any other tips?

Saw this in recent posts and had to chime in....

twenty something years ago I was a toys in the potty kid. During one of the first times I got to use the adult toilet on my own as toddler I dropped a Schleich-type figure of a tiger cub in the toilet and flushed. The thing got stuck in the piping of course and my poor father had to take apart the plumbing and actually take the whole toilet off of the floor base to get the toy out of the pipes so sewage could pass through again. We laugh about it now, but I remember my mother stopping me on the way into the bathroom to do a toy check for a very long time after that day.

we don't have toys in the bathroom and we don't let him take them with him to the bathroom because it could get dirty. i just tell him this. we sing a going to the potty song (Smells like Funk It must be Us--black eyed peas), then a song while pottying ("Potty" like it's 1999), and a song while cleaning up (row your boat)

I was just going to post about the hands in the potty, DD puts toys in as well but not as often as the hands. I have to watch her and catch any diving hands. but I still end up with a baby with pee on her hands, at least 25% of the time. Yuck!!
