That's great! I'm glad you were able to get help

I hit the thrift stores again today (ok, so it was just 1) and holy crap, I swear a magic fairy was sitting on my shoulder guiding me though the store I know where they put scarves if they get them and where the fabric scraps go too, today I found 4 more spots I didn't know about! Major score for playsilk type fun! I spent $1 and got a bag full of some really nice/cool ones the girls are going to love for xmas Then yesterday I scored a huge box of thick fleece off freecycle that I'm going to make blankets with. Anyway the colors are like dark gray, black, some cream but mostly dark colors. Today I found a pretty print of what looked like a thick fleece leftover, I just opened it and its a thick twin fleece sheet with a cutting of a 2nd sheet so I'm going to cut squares and create a checkerboard with all the colors and make multiple layered quilts for the girls

Well I'm off to make dinner, I hope everyone else is having a good day

I've had a pretty good couple of days. Yesterday was ds' birthday. Fortunately he is a homebody and doesn't like going out to restaurants etc. too much, so he requested his favorite meal- the exciting combination of spaghetti with parmesan.

As for gifts, I'd found him a couple of his favorite books thrifting (Flat Stanley and a Garfield comic collection), plus a Garfield DVD from the $5 bin. I also literally found in our house an iPod shuffle, that stbx had bought as a refurb super cheap on Ebay and never used. It was a nice little grab bag of stuff I knew he would love, and he did. Best of all he loved it and it hardly cost anything in total (under $10!).

I made him a simple chocolate cake, and used some extra menorah candles instead of running to the dollar store

Yesterday and today I've been in serious hausfrau mode, cleaning and decluttering. I found a bunch of stuff to sell on craiglist/ebay, plus other stuff I just don't want anymore I am packing up for stbx's new place (he hasn't moved out yet, due to $$$ in part, but he will in early Feb).

For Christmas, I only have to get one more gift for ds, but it's doable. Plus I need to get some groceries, but I can't get them until Monday when I expect an insurance check will come in. This will be one lean weekend but food wise we are reasonably stocked so it could be worse.

I found a posting on CL for free a free christmas tree to needy families. My first thought was to wonder if the post was a scam, but dh called them and it was for real. I went over to where they were located gave them some information and was given a free tree. The kids are so thrilled that they will have a tree this year. We also got the box of holiday goodies in the mail from my parents today with a very unexpected check that allowed us to get a stand and a couple strings of lights for on the tree.

good morning mamas

its so cold here.....but, its literally TOO cold to snow....so, we get almost NONE of the nasty white stuff with this huge storm

im feeling okay about the holiday. my big thing is that my home needs a cleaning before the festivities.....and thats my least favorite thing to do....

a girlfriend gave me a wonderful bag of knitted items......socks and scarves and mittens. she knits all year as a type of therapy. and a gc for the local little yarn store....which i almost immediately spent on a rowan knitting book....and some needles i didn't have

hope everyone is well.

Happy Sunday everyone,

I've had some good money karma today- I found $15 in loonies and toonies ($1 and $2 coins here in Canada, LOL) in an old wallet. I went out to do a few groceries, as we had run out of a ton of basics, like bread, peanut butter, fruit and veg, everything dairy. I managed to do a really good load where I got almost everything we needed on good discounts, plus some with coupons on top of the discounts. I don't think I paid full price for a single thing. Plus I had a bunch of free product coupons (for laundry detergent, yay!) that expire Dec 31. I literally now have enough for the next year, hooray!

I hate being poor....

My vacuum broke today while I was trying to clean for christmas, and while the belt I need only costs $4 at walmart I've got exactly .68 to last until the 31st. We're okay on food though thankfully, and have all the essentials, just annoying on not being able to clean.

Maybe I can sell something on craigslist to earn a little to cover it - I think I might have a couple of packs of pullups that are too small for DD.

fingers crossed that my PC is working okay now - earlier I had a weird virus/worm thing that was controlling my PC. I'm hoping I got it all cleared as my other PC already died, and if my laptop goes I'm suck for working or earning any money really.

Well Merry Christmas to us...We found out today that the mortgage company filed a notice of default last week, so we are officially in foreclosure now. Oh well, we knew it was coming. We have an appointment with an attorney tomorrow to start a bankruptcy. This should buy us quite a bit of time to stay in the house without them being able to proceed on the foreclosure.

could this possibly be a good thing in the long run? Renting is often cheaper these days when owning. I know when my car was repo's this summer I was upset at losing the car but it was a huge weight off my shoulders to not have the stress of the monthly payment anymore even though it was a small payment.

Yes, ultimately this will be a good thing. We don't like this house or the city it is in & we owe more than 2x what it is worth at this point. It is just stressfull expecially with the baby coming. Everything just feels so up in the air.

Today I am facing the dreaded holiday reality. I am wrapping presents.... I had tons of paper and ribbons, embelishments etc.... I just wish I was more in the 'holiday spirit'. DS has plenty of presents (my mom sent $$ so I could get what ds wanted - dang legos lol).

I finally saw the DR yesterday, my stomach is kinda majorally messed up. Im starting labs, got a referral to the ultrasound place (have an appt tomorrow) and also got a referral to the gastro dr and again have an appt on MONDAY YIKES.... who knew with AHCCCS insurace things would move so quickly (medicade) Usually referrals take MONTHS.

Off to do more wrapping.....

You have 8 months before the baby comes, thats plenty of time to get a plan in place and take action

We short sale'd our house in April, is that a possibility for you? It looks better on your credit than a bankrupts or foreclosure.

Thanks! I'm watching the new Harry Potter now!

And you can also use the code Acme26 at redbox machines to get a free one night rental - once per credit/debit card.

Well HELL!! We met with the attorney today & my world was turned upside down. We were under the impression that once you retian the attorney the foreclosure process stops until after the bankruptcy is filed & discharged. NOT THE CASE!! We thought we were going to have about 18 months (the attny takes long payment plans) but it turns out that we might have 6 months if we are lucky! We are so screwed. DH can't stop crying. I can't be having a baby now! I guess we will be contacting someone to set up a short sale to start next month & PRAY that it takes a long time to sell. I just don't know what to do.
