Is it ok to freeze tofu?

I made chili last night with tofu in it, is it ok to freeze it? Makes good single serve meals for when DH is working late

ETA: I also made a super huge batch of hummus... is that ok to freeze?

I have no idea about the hummus - it never lasts long enough around here to have to worry about it going bad.

You can definitely freeze tofu. It changes the texture somewhat (esp if it's uncooked) but you should have no worries about it holding up.

The texture of frozen then thawed tofu is excellent in chili- I used to intentionally use previously frozen tofu for recipes like that. Freezing gives the tofu a more gritty, less creamy texture than it had before freezing.

I'm not sure about the hummas. I know it CAN be safely frozen and thawed, in terms of food safety, but I'm not sure if it would affect the texture. It might be less creamy/more gritty after thawing (but stirring it back together might be all it needs to fix this.)

You can freeze tofu, it changes the texture(it will be firmer and chewier so use it in "meat" dishes like stir fry etc.)

Hummus freezes great, it isn't affected by freezing at all.
