Absence Seizures

Thread Starter
My otherwise healthy two and a half year old neice started having staring episodes last Friday, maybe once or twice on Saturday and Sunday. By yesterday, she was having them every 40 minutes, so my sister-in-law brought her to the Children's Hospital. While waiting to be seen, she had over ten. We've been told they are likely Absence or Petit Mal seizures. They are heading back to the hospital this morning for furter testing.
My neice is completely vaxed, including the H1N1 (Canadian, full of Squalene). Do any of you know of a link between vaccines and absence seizures? I am 100% no-vax for my DD, so the first thing I thought of was that this could be a vaccine reaction (she had the H1N1 about three weeks ago).
Doing some research into these seizures, I've read they typically do not affect kids before age 4.
TIA

Poor baby!! How awful.

My head goes right to vaccines, but good luck proving that..unless the seizures started immediately after the h1n1 vaccine, doctors will say it has nothing to do with what is happening. I hope she recovers

This brings tears to my eyes. I'd also look at vaccines first, but as the PP mentioned, unless it was an immediate reaction it's hard to get drs to start looking at this.
