Bacteria and Metrogel

I hope this is the right forum. Anyways I am 39 weeks and my OB just swabbed me because my DH comented that I had an odor. She only said that she saw "some bacteria" and prescribed me metrogel. I decided that I don't really want to use it and set myself up for yeast or other bacterial problems (I have never had problems with anything down there.) So I would like any input as to what I should do. Anone BTDT? I have no other symtoms. I was wondering about just using probiotics? TIA

so one alternative is to use a peroxide protocol
this page has some discussion on the use of hydrogen peroxide as a treatment and the use of probiotics as well as talking about the topical application of metrogel--

some web info about metrogel more specific --
http://www.wdxcyber.com/dxvag002.htm

1 applicator intravaginal each day for 3 days (75% cure); exogenous lactobacillus recolonization by vaginal tablets or suppositories containing lactobacillus or oral tablets with lactobacilli that recolonize the gastrointestinal tract. Treatments to avoid Antibiotics with activity against lactobacilli. Reason for Rx choices Metronidazole has excellent activity against anaerobes but poor activity against lactobacilli. It's cure rate is excellent and it also covers trichomonas vaginitis with sometimes coexists with bacterial vaginosis.

Thanks for those links. I might try a combo, metrogel with probiotics.

I just had to comment that I found it interesting to be prescribed metrogel (they have a lotion version as well) for this. I have a prescription for it but it is for my face. I have Lupus. And, the lotion is $180 a bottle.

I don't find it interesting, it's standard treatment for BV. I hope the doc warned you that it will cause some chunky white discharge and is quite alarming if you're not expecting it.
