I am on the boards every now and then, but I work full-time and have a lot going on so I don't get to research as much as I would like!
I have asked several questions in the past and you all have been SO helpful!
I was on here not too long ago and found a thread that was talking about the pros and cons to the HIB vax. There was one thread that had some links to the CDC on cases that had vaccine failure or something?? I wish I could remember where I saw it!! I've decided against prevnar for sure and am just now getting to the point where I'm feeling comfortable with that but HIB still scares me because it's most common until the age of 5. Katie is 20 months now and I've worried all this time about her getting meningitis or something horrible from this bacteria, I know I will just worry for 3 more years. I am still nursing her and will continue until she's at least 2 or 2 2/1 at least. I know that there was a Swedish study that showed BFing provides long term protection...Are there any other studies other than that one study that shows that? Also, I guess what I'm looking for is good evidence that the HIB vaccine would be a bad idea, then I would feel a little more justified to myself in my reasoning not to get it. I recently went through this process with Prevnar and this vax was in the back of my mind, and now that I'm fine with my decision on Prevnar, this one has to be dealt with. I do have a touch of anxiety, so this is really getting to me,obviously. I know this is a broken record, but if anyone could help, I'd be soo appreciative! I'm bad at researching stuff in general, and I'm a little frustrated with trying to find the info that I know is out there!
Thanks so much in advance!
