Phillipa Gregory Type Books

So Phillipa Gregory has been my latest fluff book. Actually, I listen in the car on my commute. I like her books because they take known historical people (primarily women) and give them a story and make them seem more human. I love stories like this, fiction based on historical or legendary/mythical people, esp if they focus on the women. But I'm almost at the end of her books now, so I wonder what authors write similar books?

Alison Weir has some fiction. She has one abut Jane Grey named Innocent Traitor and one about Queen Elizabeth named The Lady Elizabeth

I have heard Susan Kay's Legacy is good

Katherine by Anya Seton is an *amazing* book. It's all about the love story between Katherine Swynford and John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster(son of Edward III). It begins in 1366, set during the Hundred Years War in France. It's definitely a recc!

Pillars of Earth & World W/O End by Ken Follett also get ten stars each.

while not based on an actual person, you might enjoy The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. it is set in 15th century Florence, and the historical details are seemingly accurate.

i also liked The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier.

and while i have not read P Gregory, after i read S Dunant everyone was recommending P Gregory to me.
