Long-haired moms: how do you keep your hair safe?

Help! I am sick of having my hair yanked out!

What do other long-haired moms do? I had my hair in 2 braids today and I pinned it up with hair pins, but the hair pins slid out so I carefully collected them all so my babe wouldn't eat them... what are your favorite hairstyles/accessories to keep hairs out of little pulling hands?

I have long hair (just above thighs) and the best clip is a Fakkare style clip... they hold everything and it doesn't fall out...

You can see what they look like here... http://www.ficcare.com/Products.aspx?collId=1

I honestly couldn't imagine paying that... but luckily "Goody" makes a similar one for a fraction of the price...

I put my hair up into a sort of french twist kind of style... I don't know how to explain it.... but my hair is completely up, it takes seconds to do, one clip holds it and nothing falls out...

old fashioned pony tail that DD will generally leave alone although I invite hair pulling because we play a game where I drop my ponytail on her face and then she giggles like mad

Mine is in a bun 95% of the time. Ds doesn't grab as much anymore but it still happens at times.

My hair is generally in a French braid for the first year, LOL!

Bun or ponytail, all the time.

I clip or bun my braids. Or I do a nautilus bun.

I think I might try to find some time (HAH) to tape my hair up in a crown braid a couple times a week next time around, if there is a next time.

ponytail or french twist type thing. anything to keep it away from little tugging hands, lol

yup, I twist mine up into a bun with an elastic every day. One plus, though, is that I don't need to brush it or wash as it as often since it's always up.

Ponytail for me too! I also put it up when it's wet and don't pull it all the way through the last time, so it's almost like a bun. Ds still sometimes gets a hold of the wispys in back, but he can't grab as much. Which is good because when he grabs he grabs hard and pulls, and I don't need any help loosing more hair!

My hair is almost always in a bun but I cover...I'm kind of suprised no one else mentioned this. If you cover all your fly aways are safe. You can use a plain bandana or scarf. There are lots of ways to tie covers too... got to go Alena needs me.

Another bun vote here. My hair has been in a bun since about May of 2007. I actually only take it down when I shower. My son doesn't like my hair down and if I take it down, asks for me to put it up, that is if he isn't playing with it, which is mostly pulling/grabbing/yanking!

I miss wearing my hair down - it is always in ponytail or bun now (with elastic). DS loves when I put it down - he likes to feel it and then pull it and then up it goes.

What is a nautilus bun?

Ponytail.

I keep a big clip(I'm not sure what they're called..used to be banana clips I think?) & slap it into it now. I was using a pony tail but then it was breaking off around where the elastic goes

I'm thinking of chopping it to the shoulders now because of the damage the ponytail holder did during those first months. And the 3 month shed is driving me CRAZY with the hair everywhere.

I keep mine under a scarf almost all the time.

Do you mean you wear a scarf over the front of your head to protect the little side wispies?

Hair? What hair?

On a more appropriate note - wear it in a bun but a fat lot of good that does me. My DD loves to yank at my hair and will get at the wispies and the hair that is tucked away (which hurts harder actually). I may have to try a scarf or a bandana but quite frankly I feel a bit claustrophobic in those..... I need to have my scalp breathe.
