Long-haired moms: how do you keep your hair safe? - Page 2

Wow I feel soooo lucky my DD is gentle with my hair. She just turned one and I usually wear my hair down (mid-back length) and she kind of admires(?) it (or maybe she is looking for split ends!) and touches it soft or pats it. We also play in front of the mirror with my hair over her head to pretend she has long hair, lol! :-D

I have dreadlocks, but they look like big ropes so of course they're always getting yanked on. I just put my hair in a ponytail with a bandanna most of the time. Sorry that wasn't more helpful. You could also braid your hair and pin it up in a crown, that might work well, even though it would make you look like an old-fashioned gal.

This is my first "long haired babe" and it's been an advennture... I was just coming to ask this very question!

My hair is (just) long enough to get into a ponytail but DS still manages to get his fingers into the "pulled back" portion of the hair (over my ear usually) and then the hair gets sort of wrapped around his fingers? I do wear a cover much of the time but more of a bandana/over the head style, not a full cover.

Do other mamas have a long hair trick that prevents their LO from getting fingers into their hair when it's in a bun/ponytail? I'm about ready to shave everything off even though it's taken my 2 years to get to this length!

Yeah this!

Even though I bun it most all the time , by the time my DD finishes yanking on the tucked-in hair (she does it while feeding, so cutely and gently that it is therapeutic) I have the most disheveled look as if I put my finger in an electric socket. Between my hair and my no make-up look (wanting to kiss DD) these days anyone coming to my door (like the mailmen) have taken to asking me "where they can find the mistress of the house"

I have been a nanny to little one's starting at 3 months old. I would wear my hair down, and if the baby would grab a chunk I would take his hand and loosen it and say "Gentle". He rarely tried to pull my hair or earrings or necklaces. but with everyone else he would be pretty aggressive, I saw that they just ignored him and pried his fingers off. I think talking to him made him treat me differently.
