Fish Oil in place of Fish????

Ok, this is awful, and I really like utilizing and relying on whole foods for my nutrition, but....

I don't like fish. It grosses me out. I'm sure this is from a lifetime of not eating it, and I have continually tried to figure out a way to like it...but no luck so far. And I've stuck w/ salmon and tilapia (of course I like how tilapia tastes but have read it is basically crappy and full of omega 6s so not so great....), and have little experience making fish, so I'm sure this contributes to this issue.

So, what are your thoughts on this? Can a high quality fish oil supp replace the benefits of fish in the diet?? Any links on this would be appreciated!

Also, if you have a delicious way of making fish, please share...We had some salmon for dinner that I practically gagged down (and I marinated it and breaded it and fried it and it was still yucky to me...)

Help!

I take fish oil for cholesterol/heart reasons and also tend to dislike fish as it is prepared in the US. I also prefer fish oil because the heavy metals are filtered out from what I understand.

Coromega is the brand the dietician recommended--it's an orange flavored goo. I swallow it like a pill as it still tastes a bit fishy to me.

Salmon is a strong fish. I will eat my stepmom's salmon but that's only because she basically serves a bowl of butter and herbs with a bit of salmon in it.

Sorry I'm not more help.
