Is baby engaged if you can feel the head in the vagina?

I can feel my baby's head inside of my vagina. I'm in the process of trying to get her to turn anterior. I was wondering if the fact that I can feel her head in there means that she's engaged.

Thanks in advance!

Not 100% sure, but I believe that it means the baby has definitely dropped. But I don't think the baby is considered engaged until the head is no longer ballotable. Can you make the head bounce/move up and down by pushing on it? If not, she's probably engaged. If not, she will be soon

"engaged" means that the widest part of the baby's head has entered the pelvis. This is usually assessed by abdominal palpation. If the head is 3/5 or more descended then it is engaged. It would be possible to feel the baby's head vaginally before then but if it was +1-2 without excessive moulding then I guess you could say it was engaged.

Thanks, I'm trying to avoid engagement until I can make a good effort in turning her.

Just wanted to add that I felt my baby's head last week, but checked again two days ago and baby is gone. Not entirely sure what that means, but in my case, baby didn't stay. I was most certainly dialated a good 3 centimeters, but now I'm closed tight again.

The only reason I checked last week was because I could just feel a lot of bulging down there when I was showering and decided to check for the first time. To my happy delight, I could feel my baby's head. Yet, I had some prodromal labor a couple days ago, decided to check real quick, and sadly, I was closed tight and baby's head was gone. Oh well. Baby will come when baby comes.

I know my body is preparing and that's all that matters to me.

luvmykiddos- lucky you! you can feel your cervix!

Well, I've found that her head will be very low and then a few hours later higher, or not really "down there" (as far as an internal check goes) at all. It's pretty strange, and I'm sure it's due to the fact that she's posterior and has trouble having her head hit just right.

thanks everyone
