Just had to share - first poo in the potty!

My DD is 9 months old and for about the last 3 weeks I have been putting her on the potty in the morning when we wake up, and when she gets up from a nap because I noticed she typically pees at those times. We are just learning about EC and getting started slowly.

So, this morning she peed right away when I put her on her potty (she does about 90% of the time), but then I had this feeling to leave her on there for another minute, and she pooed! I was so excited! (Although my reaction to her was just "oh good" and kissing her like always, whether she goes or not). My husband was happy, but not as excited as me, none of my friends do EC, and my family thinks that "too early potty training can lead to issues" so I haven't had anyone to really share with, although I think I will do a blog post about EC in the next few days.

Oh, so thrilling to have her go on the potty! I know this is likely not about to turn into a regular thing from now on with no hiccups, but it seems like such a good sign! Plus, it was one less diaper change, and one less POOPY diaper change, which is so much more work.

OK I'm done. Were other people as excited about the first potty poo as me?

Absolutely - the first few are so exciting! I kind of take it for granted now, but when I get a poopy diaper I realize how awesome it is that he goes in the potty!

I'm still having a hard time finding a position that he is comfortable in (that doesn't require 2 people (his head is still very floppy)
I do a little dance in my head every time I get it right

Yes! But not just the first one Pooping in the potty is niiiiiiiice.

My dd will be 20 months old on Sunday. She pooped in the potty a bit ago, and I was noticing that it still is cool and exciting!

We started late too and this is exactly how our first poo happened!! I just had a hunch so left him on for a few more minutes and voila! DS was still EBF then so there was no grunting or any real signs ahead of time, just good old intuition. I was so happy for my son, but also really proud of myself!!! And yes, we were THAT excited too. After a while, pooping on the potty every morning became normal and we got less excited about it but lately the potty can't hold his attention and he crawls off right away so most poops happen in his diaper or on the floor. So we're back to being really excited when they land in the potty again! It's all a great experience and good fun, no matter what stage you are at. Congratulations on a great start and I hope the intuition keeps up!
