do you guis tink that would be fine? is there anything wrong with drinking out of cocktail shakers? they can be found for less than 2 dollars each on amazon. that is much better than the fancier stainless steel eco-cups i've seen aroun.

The one that we have has a thin rim that would be kind of sharp to drink from.

Like another poster mentioned I too would be worried about the rim, we have two and one does have the thinner rim and the other has a screw on top so you would have the "tracks" on the top portion where you would be drinking.

I'd just as soon buy the "This Is Not A Plastic Lid" two pack from Amazon.com and hunt thrift shops or $1 stores for a regular mug the lid will fit on. If I had an insulated stainless steel cocktail shaker with a rim that would fit the silicon lids, I might go for it, but as it is, I prefer using my shakers for iced tea and vinaigrette. (Not at the same time, thank you, although the difference between that and kombucha is slim.)

Totally fine! We use cocktail shakers as cups - big ones for dh and me, smaller ones for the children. The ones we have don't have a rim; they are completely smooth. We got them from a restaurant supply store. So far, it seems to be a good solution for us. As the op noted, it's much less expensive than the ones that are marketed as children's cups. I think there is an untapped market for reasonably priced stainless steel children's cups, plates, bowls, etc.
