My Introduction (long, sorry)

Hi!

I'm coming out of lurkdom to post here as I am an HBAC hopeful due April 29. I recognize some of you from TBW where I am fairly active.

I had my DD in Oct 08 - a planned HB that ended up a C section. I had ROM at 38 weeks, followed by no labour. After 24 hrs I went for an induction (pitocin) that didn't cause active labour. After 5 hrs on the pit, they convinced me to get an epi so they could really turn it up high. This caused me to overcontract so they turned it off which made my ctx stop entirely. I didn't dilate past 1cm, so 36 hours after ROM I had a c section. We had really bad problems BFing and DD didn't latch until she was 5 weeks old (pumped BM until then). We're still BFing at 14 months now!

Anyhow, I have a midwife again for this pregnancy and am more educated on what I would do if the same circumstance arose (I would basically wait longer as long as baby was ok after ROM). DH and I have decided we would like an HBAC as I do not wish to go to the hospital unless absolutely necessary. I have also decided that if an induction/augmentation becomes necessary (MW says pitocin is not contraindicated in Ontario for VBAC) that I will absolutely not have an epi unless they are about to section me. I have a doula this time who is very supportive.

I'm so pleased to have found this VBAC forum and have already learned so much and am so inspired by the success stories! Thank you!

Congrats. I'm kinda in the same boat but were not TTC yet. I just posted something similar to your story. April 29th is my birthday too. Great day to be born

Welcome. I recognize you, too, from TBW. This forum was so helpful to me in terms of answering my questions, calming my fears and helping me with my first VBAC. PLEASE ask questions and join in.

Welcome!!! I'm sort of just a lurker now since my VBAC baby is 9 months old...but in the future I plan to be back, so I like to stay connected!

I'm glad to see that you have great support and a plan in place for this time! That's great!

Oh, and a side note, congrats on successfully breast feeding after 5 weeks of pumping! That's wonderful!!!
