Can someone tell me what this pain could be? I can't do this much longer :(

Can someone tell me what this pain could be?

I have this deep breast pain that has lasted for a couple of weeks (getting worse and worse). I really can't deal with it much longer. The odd thing is that it's only in one breast.

It's a horrible pain that lasts almost an hour after feeding.
The pain comes even when I'm nursing on the other side and the 'bad' breast leaks.
The entire breast is sore from nipple to armpit.
DS had a yeast rash (went away with yeast medicine) a few weeks before this started. DS doesn't have any white spots in his mouth that don't wipe away with a wash cloth.
My nipples are pinkish.
I woke up one morning with my breasts engorged and a 'bump' on my 'bad' breasts that went away at the next feeding. it hasn't come back.
No fever, no chills, no red streaks or mastitis like symptoms.

I just don't know what to do. It sounds like thrush-- maybe-- but how could I only have thrush in one breast?

DS pediatrician is calling in a script for nystatin just in case. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you checked your nipple for what look like white heads? I get these from time to time they are called blips or milk blister and it's when a bit of skin grows over the expression hole where milk comes out causing it to be very painful and not fully clear the duct of milk.

If you find one here is how you take care of it, http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipplebleb.html.

I have to take a sterile needle and remove the skin in the shower and then express milk until the clogg fully drains which is usually a chunk of milk or string of milk.

could also be thrush. I had thrush on only one side to begin with. What sort of pain is it?
For awhile twin1 would really squash his head into my boob as he latched on during the nigh basically causing a bruise inside. this was just a phase and went away after a few weeks.
Have you considered contacting you gp?

Is it a fiery pain? If it feels like burning, then it's likely thrush. I treated it by wiping my nipple with ACV and then opening up a capsule of probiotics and putting them on the vinegar to make a paste. I would let it sit there as long as possible, then wash it off. It worked fairly quickly.

If it's a deep ache instead of a fiery pain it could be a plugged duct that just hasn't progressed to mastitis yet. I used to get them all the time in my "bad" breast. (The other side never had any problems!)

sounds like thrush to me too.

If you treated the baby for thrush and not yourself, you could be passing it back and forth. It's best to treat you both at the same time.

I've gone ahead and started treating the baby and I both for thrush. My baby seems much, much happier (can thrush cause fussiness?), and my deep pain has subsided to more of a burning sensation in both breasts. I'm hopeing this will go away soon. *fingers crossed!*
