Sock money heating bag....

I found a pattern for a sock monkey which I love.....and I'd also love to make my kids heating bags (the ones filled with rice), so I'm wondering if I can just combine the two and make a sock monkey heating bag. Would wool be ok in the microwave? Obviously I wouldn't use buttons....I'd jut make some eyes out of yarn and sew them on.

I would say that you should knit/crochet (I don't know how you're making the monkey since I didn't look at the pattern) a rectangle and make a little pouch. Fill your sample with rice and microwave it to test it.

I made an eye mask out of mercinized cotton and it's done fine. I would suppose that wool would work as well, but test it before you make the whole monkey.

I see no reason why rice can't be substituted for the batting. Sounds like a grand idea!
