I want to make this moss rug... any ideas how?

This is cool, I want to make it. I need ideas for the part that you plant the moss in (and I kinda want it to be cheap, because I am not sure if the moss will actually live in my bathroom, so I don't want it to be a huge investment, y/k).

Any ideas? Thanks!

if you can live without the wavy edges, any shallow tray would work (like a school cafeteria tray). moss should love the humidity in your bathroom!

It's funny because there are some parts of the country were moss grows everywhere and people try to discourage it. Actually, I had to reread the word, because I was thinking "mold." I think that mold grows in just about everyone's bathroom. Maybe you'll need to take longer showers. Or, maybe you need a humidifier.

Ok, now the picture has loaded... um, I would think that you wouldn't need the special shaped tray. My first thought was a cookie sheet, one of those sheet cake ones (15x10?). My only other thought was an under the bed storage container, but it's walls would be too high.

I would suggest cross-posting in gardening, since the indoor gardeners might know just the thing. Also post in mindful home management or recycling. I would also research the moss that you plan to use to make sure that it doesn't have anything wierd that would effect your family or pets.

Otherwise, I think that it looks very interesting.

Thanks. I'll cross-post (now I need to figure out how to do that...).

I was thinking a tray - I actually have just the right size because my grandfather owned a doughnut shop - so I have some big trays that they used to put doughnuts on. I was thinking I would have to drill holes or something. Not sure.

the moss won't need drainage holes, but you'll want something on the bottom of the tray to keep it from skidding, like rubbery, grippy shelf liner.

What a great idea! Now I want one!!! I'm gonna check out my home goods store and see if something like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002MH2G6/...SIN=B0002MH2G6 is deep enough for the dirt.

That is what I was looking for! Thanks. The only trays I have are plastic, and I thought I would need something bendy... this silicone one is great. Thanks!
