Dyeing doll hair

I got some wonderful wool yarn for my youngest daughter's xmas doll. But she wants a light blonde and pink mix of hair color. I can do pink. She also wants a doll with brown hair and I have some but it's boucle and she wants straight (hers is straight). But I've never ventured my yarn dyeing into hair colors.

I have heard chamomile/calendula flowers for blonde, but have none. Does anyone have experience with koolaid/food coloring/jacquard to dye blonde or a light/medium brunette?

Hi,

I use kool-aid for my dolls hair and their cardigans all the time.

For blonde color I use 2 lemon kool-aid with a pinch of orange mixed together, like her color:

for light brown I use equal amount of orange and grape, 2 packs of each for her:

But please experiment before you add all your yarn in. The result may differ depending on the base color of your yarn. For both of these dolls I have used natural wool color yarn.

And here is a blog post about how I color my yarn:

please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
