Dry hands. What lotion do you use?

I have dry hands (I wash them all the time, I'm a bit of a germafob) and winter is making them worse. I haven't been using lotion bc ds is always trying to suck/ chew my fingers. However, now they are cracking and hurt.
Can anyone recomend a lotion/ remedy that won't hurt ds if he gets my hands in his mouth?

Coconut oil? I use it as a moisturizer on my face sometimes. A little goes a long way.

I have heard Lansinoh is good for dry hands, and I know that is safe to go in babies' mouths because it does when you put it on your nipples and then breastfeed...! Try that!

Otherwise, see what the pharmacist or doctor says about Aquaphor. That is a great one with no added fragrances or chemicals, but I'm not sure it's ok to go in little mouths...

I use apricot oil, especially overnight. Shea butter is also great.

Are you washing in cool water? Drying throughly each time? Moisturizing each time? Heavily mosturizing with gloves overnight? If you are doing all these and still having problems, I would look at your diet to make sure you are getting enough essential fatty acids.

I use whipped shea butter from my local soap store. It seems greasy at first, but absorbs quickly and lasts long. Plus you can deep condition with it at night by putting socks on your hands and really slathering it on. It has also kept my belly completely stretchmark free through 2 pregnancies.

coconut oil is completely edible and marvelous for soft, supple skin

i´m a massage therapist, any type of oil you can eat can go on your skin. of all i love sesame and almond oil the best. but get it 100% natural. for my therapies, i like to buy oils in a natural foods store, edible oils are best.

Aquaphor ... wonderful, amazin stuff, but petroleum jelly is the main ingrediant, but I had cracked and bleeding hands as a bartender one winter. Aquaphor is the only thing that saved me.

Coconut oil is a great every day thing, not certain if it will help you once it's become this bad, but it certainly can't hurt.

Is it greasy? Does it smell good? (I'm trying to find something natural that DH will also use. Right now he says he'll just use the non-greasy lotion with parabens in it.

Here in the North this is a common problem in winter.
What I do is wash and dry thoroughy, then put some sugar and olive oil in the palm of my hand and scrub them well, all over. I do it over the sink as it makes a mess. After a good scrubbing I give them a quick rinse then dry. The sugar exfoliates any rough spots and the olive oil moisturizes. If needed, and especially before bed I'll follow with shea butter.

I also have problems with my hands cracking and bleeding in the winter.

Increasing the amount of water I drink helped. Also, I added flax seed to my diet - 2 tablespoons of freshly ground flax seed a day.

I use raw shea butter on my hands, from Mountain Rose. It is greasy at first, but soaks in quickly. I wouldn't say it smells good, but the smell doesn't really bother me. Kind of a smoky smell. Most nights, I put shea butter on my hands with cotton gloves.

If you want a cutely packaged, good smelling product, I really like Bubble and Bee. They have a lotion stick that is really great. I carry this in my purse. It doesn't contain water, so it is great to carry around with you. I love the coconut lime scent. All of their products are all natural and organic.
