not salad?

It's not really salad season here anymore...yet I still find myself wanting to eat a salad with each dinner.

Something about the color and not-cooked-ness seems "right" to me.

My budget, however, doesn't agree.

What veggies do you all eat in the winter? We get green beans, asparagus, broccoli, etc. frozen from TJ's - so it's not like we're missing greens, it's just that a cooked veggie with, let's say, pizza or soup seems *odd* to me.

Advice?

I agree about cooked vegies being not quite right with pizza or soup. But, we tend not to have salad with either of those because we put lots of vegies on/in them instead. Would that work for you?

Broccoli, sweet potatoes, winter squash, spinach, kale, chard, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, and onions. For fruits, we're eating pears, kiwi, apples and citrus fruits. And yeah, we tend to put the veggies IN the soups and casseroles rather than serving them on the side.

By January, I'll probably cave and buy some bananas and some pineapples because I will have had all the citrus I can stand.
