I have extra. I would love to put them up for adoption and have placed ads on freecycle and kijiji. But if I can't give them away what can I do with them? I have about 4 in the fridge marked with the date right now.

They make fantastic compost

I like to save some in case any of mine go bad. I also like to rotate them out every once in a while. I'm not sure if it's necessary though.

I would save one as a back up for sure! Share the love, you can post here & mail them out to other MDC Mamas who don't have a local source. I'm sure you'd have takers immediately! BTW I'd love one if you choose this route You can just charge shipping, a flat rate small box is $4.85 I think, just double bag in freezer ziplock bags & include at least a 1/2 C of the tea that it brewed in. I can't find anyone locally to give me one, so I'm in the process of trying to grow one form a bottle of store bought Kombucha, which is a painstakingly slow process. I found directions online then I even found a thread here where people have done so successfully.

I just watched an awesome video on how to make a great hair treatment out of it, Here it is
More ideas here

I throw 'em out in the yard & let the kids dissect 'em.

Ooo, some great ideas, thanks! I have already composted about ten but even that seems like such a waste.

Cookiepie, I would totally love to send you one but I am in Canada - are you in the states, and if so would it cross the border??

If they don't make their way to the compost I just leave them and let my scoby get super big and thick. If someone needs one down the road i cut a chucnk off

Yes, I'm in the states, I bet shipping wouldn't be worth it. But thanks!!! My mother is actually starting to form every so slowly. I have a bit of film covering my tea now!!! So eventually I should have a mother! Do post if you try any of the skin or hair recipes I'd love to know how they turn out!
