Did I just get excited and buy the wrong yarn??? pls advise...

New knitter here. Done a couple hats, came out wonky but now I'm getting the hang of it and dying to move on from hats

Jumping into my first soaker very soon...and found this yarn

I'm worried now because I ordered two balls of it and have since read that the superwash doesn't work for soakers. I'm familiar with lanolizing as I have mama pads that I've lanolized and cared for, but I didn't make them-bought them from a WAHM-so I didn't really pay attention to material other than they were wool that had to be lanolized. So tell me, did I screw up? Should I use what I ordered for something else and get different wool?

Do you have links to yarn you love? I love to shop online so website links would help for future use in yarn shopping, but first off is what I already snagged up going to work?

Thanks so much in advance for the yarn advice. I love lurking here and picking up bits and pieces. I'll be sure to post more and show pictures when my work isn't so...well...when it looks like a mama did it and not her daughter.

sorry, superwash isn't the best for soakers. I've heard that you can use them one time like acrylic soakers but have no experience w/ that. After it has been treated it loses its lanolin which is what keeps the wool absorbent.

You want hand wash wool. Some brand names - peace fleece, ella rae, cascade 220.

Thank you for the response. I guess I just needed confirmation . I suppose I'll have to pick another project for the yarn I ordered lol. Any ideas?

Ohhh I know what I would do with the superwash. Knit mitten cuffs with it and then make the actual mittens on big needles with cascade 220 (or any felting wool) then felt the mittens. You have awesome felted super warm mittens and still have nice stretchy warm cuffs! In an old living crafts issue there was a pattern- otherwise the mama who submitted that pattern is on here somewhere.... her user name is Mo- something. I can't remember. Anyone else?

That sounds so cool!

Op, you could still make some longies w/ that yarn for dc just use a soaker or cover w/ them. I'm still making longies though I hope that dc will be out of diapers sooner than later. Are you on ravelry? If not, join up! I really like http://www.ravelry.com/designers/anadiomena anadiomena's designs. Girly sweaters/skirts. Knitting Pure and Simple has a free top down baby cardi pattern. It is easy but might take more yarn than you have. You could make some slippers for yourself.
