Balancing supply with an unpredictable toddler

My dd just turned one and there are some days she will go hours in between nursing sessions and other days where she will want to nurse constantly. She nurses several times throughout the night, probably because most days the world is too interesting for her to sit still long enough to nurse!

Did any of you do anything to try to regulate your supply during this unpredictable phase, or did you find that your body just responded to your toddler's demands?

It seems like my supply has gone down recently because I don't really get engorged if she goes hours between feedings. But she's also been eating more solids so maybe she just doesn't need as much??

It is true that she probably doesn't need as much. At the same time she still needs alot of breastmilk. How about offering to her more often?

thanks pbjmama...she still doesn't eat too many solids, so some days i know she needs more than she is getting (she is 25 lbs though and has always been chubby so no issue with weight gain)

she knows the sign for milk but often when i sit down with her, she will just laugh and crawl off my lap to go play

we've also had issues with biting the past month, so i have to admit i'm hesitant to offer if she doesn't seem interested because i don't want to be bit

I think your body can regulate. I stopped pumping at work when DD was about one, so I will go 9 hours between feedings 4 days a week... yet on the weekends, I always seem to have enough for her.
