Nut butter in a blender?

I don't have a food processor and was wondering if it would be possible to make nut butter in my blender. I'm thinking cashew or almond with a bit of coconut oil or honey?

Anyone tried it?

Thanks.

I'd say it depends on the blender. I believe they have a demo video of making nut butters in a BlendTec blender, for instance. Unfortunately, I have no idea about those lower down the food chain.

I have made peanut butter in my little cheapie blender. I added peanut oil if it seemed like it needed it (some nuts are naturally oilier than others). It certainly didn't get as smooth as store-bought, but it was still good!

Oh... I did not read your question close enough and I actually used a little cheapie *food processor.* Whoops! I don't actually know about using a blender...

I've made great nut butters in a vitamix and ok nut butters in a small inexpensive food processor but the food processor needed oil added.

Thanks, I probably just need to try it and see. I'll remember to add oil.
