DANG ITS COLD HERE!!! Abq December Thread !!! - Page 3

I just noticed H has a rash on her lower back just above her bum. It's red but not raised or rough. The color goes away when you press on it and then returns back to red. That's a viral rash, right?
peace - i am not sure - the only time my kids have had rashes other then diaper rash it was chick pox or measles.

so, for car seat weight limits would that be what their body weighs or what their weight is in the normal clothes/shoes they wear?
Sounds kind of like a viral rash, but I'd have to see it to know for sure. Both my kids get them at least once a year.

ASF, it's the weight in normal clothes and shoes.
ASF - ideally it's including what they're wearing. But the weight of clothes is generally negligable so it's not really a big deal. If all you have is naked weight like from the doctor (you don't have a scale at home, right?) then just use that. If you do have a scale at home, then weigh them with what they typically wear. But again, clothes don't usually weigh more than 1/2-1 lb anyway, unless you're talking about big clunky snow boots or something.

Sorry elmh, didn't see you already answered!

I agree that it sounds like a viral rash, but I'm no expert. All my kids have ever had is roseola, and that rash is kinda similar to what you're describing, except it covers their whole torso. But I don't think that's what you're dealing with, particularly because most kids with roseola have a few days of high fever before the rash appears and I'm guessing your DD hasn't had that.

Yeah, she hasn't had a temp at all as far as I know. She has had congestion for a while now. And her behavior has been . But she hasn't been acting sick. I'm just going to keep an eye on it and not worry about it.

We went to the AT&T store today. I'm up for an upgrade and wanted to check out some phones I've been researching on the internet. I hate it when you know more about the products and the contracts than the sales people. We ended up just leaving.

Just something i had never thought of. We have a digi scale that goes to ounces. But, we always weigh first thing in the AM naked and that isnt what they would weigh during the day and with clothes. Just trying to see how much longer ds could be rf in the marathon. DD outgrew it by height because of her long torso but i wonder if ds will be outgrowing by weight. He is 28 lbs middle of the day with clothes on.
Does your Marathon go to 33lbs or 35lbs?
it is pretty new so i think it is a 35 lb. I hadnt thought about it since he seemed to be slowing down but now that he is creeping closer to 30 i figured i better look into it. He will at least be rf in it till 2

peace - it sounds like a viral rash to me, so it will probably just run its course. Dealing with phone companies are such a PITA. Every time I go to the Verizon store they remind me of how ignorant the staff really is, and they just end up aggravating me.

When I got my records from Pres, I was able to fax them the form (I think they will send it to you also), and they just mailed the records to me within a few weeks. Drat! I should have realized that C would have her own set of records too. I guess I need to deal with that soon. Thanks for the reminder!

elmh - Names...hmmm.... I'll have to look at them closer again. I've been distracted a lot this week. At least you have a better list now!

Rach - That is ridiculous about your nephew. I hope he doesn't get into much trouble for it.

I'm thinking of finding some part-time childcare for N next semester. . just in the mornings while E is in school. While it's been nice having my parents watch him, lets just say that things in this world rarely come without strings attached. That's probably to harsh, since generally they are great. . but I'm thinking it might do us all a little good to not mix business with pleasure.

I'd love to get him into UNM but I doubt it because of the waiting list. Do you guys know of anybody good? I'm open to either another SAHM or a center, or whatever, as long as they are good. And hopefully not TOO expensive, but I'm willing to pay what's fair.

Any ideas?

Serendipity is highly recommended, but I'm not sure on the cost. I know doularn sent C there though and S2's speech therapist is sending her nephew there and they LOVE it!
I just looked at Serendipity and it looks like the youngest they accept is age 2. Bummer, since N won't be 2 until April.

i wish i could find something for C that was like 3 hours 2 mornings a week
post #55 of 89
I wish I knew of a place, crazy, but i'll let you know if I hear anything.

So, if I didn't mention it already, C qualifies for OT services. Seems she is a sensory seeker (well, duh! ) among having a couple other issues. They also want her evaluated by a speech therapist. Any recommendationsCarrie Tingley won't have anyone until at least January/February (maybe) and I want to get her in sooner if I can.
Sorry Blue, I don't know any independants and our's is out of town until Friday. Where will she be getting the OT?
blue - pretty much every speech/ot/pt that i know of is like that - get on a cancellation list and cross your fingers. Can they start OT right away? it wont be too bad if you do OT for a month and then get the speech eval and add that in.
Right now the OT is at Carrie Tingley, and we can get started in January, which isn't too bad. I was really expecting to have to wait for several months to get her in if we qualified. I'll have to see what happens with the speech eval I guess.
That is acutally really fast, I'm really surprised they are getting to her so quickly that's great.

There is a preschool/church on this side that takes them the fall after they turn 2, I'm going to look into it it's only a few hours a week but I'm sure M would love not running errands. Sorry about the strings Crazy but the other side is going at it alone........

So no nap here today, it's going to be a long afternoon.

Maybe she'll pass out in the car when you go get the kids. That's what S2 does

Blue, that's great they're getting her in so fast. And I've come to the conclusion that there is a real shortage of Speech Language Pathologists here. If you google it + Albuquerque, you find a TON of job listings and only one practice. I know we had to wait about a month for S2 to start his therapy after the evaluation because they didn't have and SLP on staff at that time.

So today at hippo, the OT told me that S2 puzzles her. He shows her a lot of sensory avoidance and today was the first time he played in the sandbox and he also threw a muddy ball to one of the dogs. I then told her that he's really not all that defensive and he's actually very much a seeker. I mean when it snowed last week he went out in the backyard to play in the snow without anything on and did not give a damn. I had to drag him in here kicking and screaming and then do a through job locking the door. She was really shocked because he NEVER has shown that stuff to her, when really I rarely seen the defensiveness. So yeah, fun day at therapy today. At least we didn't have speech to add on to this (she's out of town )
