This drives me insane, I don't understand it... I don't go up to people's kids when they are eating burgers & fries & try to get them to eat a carrot!! But this is essentially what my family does, they are constantly wanting to feed my 10-mo-old DS non-vegan food!! Sometimes it is just lack of awareness ("oh I forgot the spinach balls have eggs in them!") but even then it makes no sense, if I already made him a nice big tray of food why would they want to offer him something different? And other times it's just weird... what is the purpose in feeding a baby ice cream or chocolate cake?! I like DS to eat really healthy, especially while his tastebuds are developing -- vegan and whole grains and little refined sugar. He loves broccoli, hummus, carrots, wheat toast with peanut butter, soup, pasta, peas, bananas, beans, even gingerbread cookies & pumpkin pie (so he does get some treats, as long as we veganize etc.)... I just don't get it, I've made it very clear to them all that DS can eat anything I can eat. And they know exactly what I can eat. I wouldn't even leave my son with them because I am afraid they'll feed him stuff I don't want him to have! (Not that I'm ready to leave my baby with anyone anyway, but I might want to someday!) I'm always having to intercept & I hate it, I try hard not to be the "over-bearing mom" since I tend to lean that way by nature... So how do you all deal with this?

This happens to me all the time though I have a more difficult time putting people off because my 3 kids have oral sensory issues and EVERYONE even my dh complains that if they weren't veggies they wouldn't have the issues. In truth my son would probably have a feeding tube because there is NO WAY he'd ever be able to chew a piece of meat and the smell would send him gagging! Just amazes me how everyone seems to have the correct answer EXCEPT me
So boy, do I empathize w/you

Yup...I get it too. It has gotten easier though. But I do know that M-I-L feeds the kdis things that I'm not really happy with but I chose to pick my battles. An arrowroot type(w very little dairy but there still is some) cookie when they visit isn't enough to cause a fight...the time my aunt fed my (at the time) 10 month old ds ice cream cake was...poor kid gets too much dairy and all hell breaks loose
