Stinky Baby

Keagan is pretty slim, but has a ton of creases in his neck. Now, a couple of those creases are getting stinky- we bathe him and dry them well, but they never seem to completely stay clean and dry. Any powder/cornstarch etc turns into paste within about an hour.

I haven't run into this before with my otehr kids, so- if anyone has a suggestion- help!

Or, am I doomed to have a stinky baby until he actually gets a long enough neck that the creases straighten out.

:)

Mila has folds on her neck, too. I clean it with extra soft wet cloth, and she wears a bib all day long. That really helps - I change several bibs a day.
I'm thinking of getting those bibs that have soft neckline all around. Something like these: http://www.ecokitchen.com/shop/bibs.html
She even sleeps with a bib and it helps with small spit up during night feeding.

HTH!

I had not considered bibs at all- oddly enough- they're the one baby thing I've never really used much with either of the older kids.. lol.

I think I might look for a few of the soft neckline sort- he is a very spitty baby, so maybe it will catch the little bits we are missing. Thanks!

we use burt's bees dusting powder on DS's neck rolls and it seems to help a lot. I never put bibs on him but the powder keeps him smelling yummy and keeps him from getting chapped skin in his rolls, too.

This is the first one I've had who didn't just smell like clean happy baby- I was in shock!
It's a good thing he's cute! :P

my SIL recommended Lotrimen ointment(the stuff for jock itch...tee hee!). apparently in addition to just being a heat rash thing it's yeast. she said she had tried everything else.
i tried it once and it was gone in a day.

I have the same problem with Kayla.. I wash her neck several times a day, give her a bath daily, and she still is stinky. I started using bibs and it has helped a bit. I was getting tired of my friends asking me, do you ever give her a bath?? ughh

Charlotte gets stinky, but it's not so much her skin as her hair and her clothes....from the spitting up. When it's breastmilk, it seems to be fine, but the formula is just rancid smelling! I have to clean her hair several times a day or it gets crunchy looking. yuck!

She wears a bib a lot too - but I hate bibs, really.....I never really used them with my other two kiddos either

I hate bibs too but DD drools a lot and spits up more than she used to.

I bought some really soft bibs at the Dollar Store, oddly enough, and the velcro fastens on the sides instead of the back. That makes it really easy to take them off if she falls asleep while eating.

I wish there were more bibs out there with snaps on them instead of the velcro. That can wake a sleeping baby so easily. Sometimes I just leave them on during naps.

Kai gets that cheesy grossness in his folds too. He has them all over his little body though. I just wipe them everytime I change his diaper and it stays away.

I tried a little Nystatin cream on it and it cleared right up. We'd been fighting a losing battle with yeast around here though. *sigh*

I'm keeping an antifungal on it and blowdrying him after baths to make sure it stays away lol. He actually likes the blowdryer....
