Newbie question- cueing

Thread Starter
I've just started ECing my DD 4.5 mo (actually, she started it, but that's another story). I notice that many people use a "pssss" sound for a cue, which sounds reasonable and intuitive. However, we use the "shhh" sound (a la "Happiest Baby on the Block") as a "relax and go to sleep" cue. Are the two sounds too similar for little ears?

Thanks,
Sarah

no, they are able to hear the nuances. they listen for them, in fact.

Wasn't a problem for our little one. I wondered about that too, but it didn't seem to matter. Now talking with friends about how "it's so cool when all you have to do is say 'pssss' and..." with an undiapered baby on your lap...THAT'S a problem (been there done that...got peed on).
