one year old placenta?

I'm a slacker... I've got a placenta in my freezer from early February 2009. What to do with it? We're still living at my in-laws' place, and we're going to buy a house soon. So I'm thinking about saving it to plant a tree at our new house, but will a one-year old placenta do any good? Could it do any harm? I don't suppose I could still get capsules made from it? I've lost all motivation to cook with it...

Oh, you are no slacker. I JUST got around this summer to planting fruit trees for my boys. They are 5 and nearly 4 years old. We had long-running jokes about how much freezer space was devoted to placentas.

The trees seem to have taken well, so I'm guessing there would be no harm in planting the placentas under a tree. We did defrost first.

We just had boy #3 on Sunday and his placenta took up residence in the freezer. We'll try to get to his tree in the spring!

I have my 3yo's in the freezer. I meant to plant it under a vine and forgot, which is just as well since the vine died. Maybe I'll get around to it this spring. We had a thread on here before and I think some lady had one that was 12yo.

My DD placenta lived in the freezer for about 9 months. We planted it under a tree in a lovely little ceremony. The tree was fine until the puppy attacked it and ripped most the branches off. (gurr) Biologically, there is nothing wrong with it being older. It will not really help or harm the tree either way. As for eating it, well, it is probobly okay too as long as it isn't freezer burned. So no worries! Keep saving it for that special purpose.

i still have mine from May 2008 in the deep freeze. We have moved twice since then and will be moving again when DH graduates and i don't want to plant it and then move, so I'm holding onto it until we know where we'll be building our home and staying put. i would like to thaw it out before planting it and making a placenta print but i would be too worried about the smell and bacteria on the print so i probably will just plant it under a tree.

Thanks everyone! We just bought our house, and I'm planning to plant something this summer.... along with all the other work there is to do!

I can't believe someone kept a placenta for 12 years- wow. Well that makes me feel better about my now-16 month old placenta.
