I just bought the Perfect Skin softgels. Does anyone know if it is ok to take when breastfeeding? The only reason I am considering it, is because my son is 2.5 years old and nursing one time a day for a couple mins. Here is the list of what is in it:

id System enteric-coated EPA-rich fish oil concentrate 500mg
(from anchovy and sardines)
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 250mg
EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) from green tea extract 50mg
Zinc (gluconate) 3.75mg
Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) 2.5mg
Selenium (L-selenomethionine) 50mcg
Chromium (citrate) 50mcg

Non-medicinal ingredients:
Gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, lecithin, purified water, aqueous
coating solution.

Thanks for any help!

IDK, looks OK to me.

id System enteric-coated EPA-rich fish oil concentrate 500mg
(from anchovy and sardines)
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 250mg

actually supports brain development in the fetus and nursing baby, recommended doses vary but range 500-2000 mg qd so this seems fine

EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) from green tea extract 50mg

antioxidant extract from green tea; maybe a problem in large amounts but I don't think this amount is much more than you'd get in 2 cups of green tea

Zinc (gluconate) 3.75mg

RDA of zinc for lactating mothers is 15-20 mgs so this is a fine addition to dietary zinc sources

Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) 2.5mg

RDA of Vitamin E for lactating mothers is 12 mg so again, a good addition to an appropriate diet

Selenium (L-selenomethionine) 50mcg

RDA in lactation is 70 mcg per day, toxic dose is 400 mcg/d - should be fine as long as you don't take a ton of these

Chromium (citrate) 50mcg

RDA in lactation is 44 mcg daily; again, I wouldn't take more than 1 pill/d but that one sounds fine

Non-medicinal ingredients:
Gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, lecithin, purified water, aqueous
coating solution.

None of these sound problematic to me; certainly not in such small amounts.

GL!!!

Thanks so much for your reply mama. You were very helpful. You were supposed to take 2 pills a day. I think I may just skip this supplement. My skin has been good lately, if I keep my hands off my face. lol I appreciate all your help!
