DS is 8.5 months old. We have the same routine at night, we let him do lots of activity (crawling, cruising, working on walking) early in the evening, then we have some quieter activities (reading, playing on the futon), then we take a walk and sing lullabies, then nurse, then sleep. He usually goes down easily.
He usually goes to sleep between 6:30-8 at night on a futon next to our bed. Some nights he sleeps there for 3 hours and comes to bed with us when we get in bed around 10. Other nights he is up and needing to nurse back to sleep up to 4 times in the same 3 hours.
Between 10ish and 6:30 am he sleeps in bed with us. Again, he could wake to nurse anywhere between 2 and 8 times in that time frame.
I can't seem to figure out a pattern with regards to frequent wakings vs. longer sleep patterns. He has a pretty consistent nap pattern. He doesn't show other signs of teething, and he's been working on the same milestones now for a while. I don't think my diet is all that varied. We will have 2-3 nights of rough sleep with lots of wakings, then a few nights of more solid sleep, then alternating nights.
Any one else have this experience and then have it stabilize at some point?? I know parenthood is full of surprises and that babies aren't always so consistent--but I'm just wondering at what age I can expect that things will even out some with regards to sleep!?
