Stroller Recommendations??

I need a new stroller. I'm going to be moving, and I'll be a single mom and I hate the stroller that we have right now anyway.

I need one thats lightweight, and has room for some grocery's in the bottom. I don't have a car, so I'll be on foot alot and so it must also be sturdy and durable.

TIA

Wow, Thyra, that's a big change you're going through. I remember you from my DDC. Also, I was a Birth Center patient and, if I remember correctly, you were, too? I hope you're staying strong.

Stroller-wise, I'm really happy with my Babyjogger City Mini. It folds up like a dream, is pretty easy to deal with on the subway--although more clunky than a Maclaran, I suppose (but there was that finger stroller recall thing with the Maclaran, remember?)--and it's got a roomy bottom, plus a flap in the back.

My LO seems pretty comfortable in it, as well. He never really complains about it.

As no stroller is 100% perfect, my two biggest gripes are:
1. the straps feel kind of wonky
2. it's considered lightweight, but it's not as lightweight as you'd think

Best of luck with everything.

Don't get a Chicco Cortina. I can't stand mine.

No worries about the Chicco Cortina - thats the one we have now and I HATE IT. It's so clunky and awful.

The babyjogger looks good, but is there a less expensive version? Or are there any sales that I can check out?

So much depends on where you are and what your priorities are. We use a McClaren Volo (the cheapest one), and love it. It folds up really easily, navigates tight spaces, is very sturdy, and super lightweight. I can carry it over my shoulder while also carrying my 27-pound kid and a diaper bag up to our third floor apartment. The bottom basket isn't huge, but will hold a bit of stuff. For our urban, apartment-dwelling life, it's great.

That said, I took it to visit friends in the country and couldn't even get it across their rocky, unpaved driveway! So, not the choice if you want to to lots of off-roading.

It's $$ but from what we have found WORTH every penny - Inglesina Zippy. It folds up and down truly 1 handed into a standing fold. No bending, twisting or contorting while juggling a baby. It is super lightweight and the balance is awesome. There's a great review on You Tube that we watched that helped us decide.

I don't think there's a less expensive version, however they seem to come out with a new one every year (around this time, I think). If you can get into the stores or somewhere online in time, you might be able to get last years' model.

It's not really lightweight but I have the Graco Vie4 stroller. I dont drive, so I use it a lot too. I live in a suburban area, so it's perfect for me, it goes through everything and I can push it with her in it with one hand. The basket is really big and holds a lot of groceries. I've bought like 100$ worth of food (including cat litter) and put everything under it.

It's very sturdy and my daughter loves it too. I was gonna get the Graco Metrolite, which is lighter, but I didnt have the money at the time I got i. It's really inexpensive too (140 I think) and from what I remember it's has the best customer reviews on amazon.

This Joovy Kooper is the one I have my eye on right now. I've read so many reviews my eyes are going It looks really good, though.

What color do you have? We do have a BOB Revolution, which is really awesome (you can't beat it on sidewalks, in parks, on grass), but it is pretty large. I'm not sure if I really *need* a second stroller since we use our Ergo a lot, but the Kooper would be it, I think.

We love our Baby Jogger Citi Mini. There isn't much room for groceries, but there are two small storage areas. It's light, super easy to maneuver, and it has fantastic wheels for off-roading. It also has the easiest quick-fold of any stroller I've encountered.
