How could I make this dairy-free?

it looks like something my dd's might eat ... peanut butter, honey & dry milk. I'm just trying to think of something non-dairy to substitute for the milk. (some of my bread machine recipes call for it, too, so I'd really love suggestions!)

"Better than Milk" brand vegan beverage mix? It's a powdered soy milk available in a canister. Or Vance's Dairy Free is also powdered http://www.vancesfoods.com/darifree.htm

I think this would be pretty easy to do!

You can find powdered soy milk at health food stores, and use agave nectar or something like Sweet Freedom for the honey.

Sounds very interesting!

thanks - *of course* there would be a powdered soy milk! I'll add it to the grocery list now.

I'd just use a protein powder, myself.

You could try using a rice protein powder (like Nutribotic's vanilla flavour), a pouch of vanilla-chai or chocolate Vega (insteads of buying a whole container of the stuff), or coconut milk powder.

It seems like the milk powder in the recipe is being used as binder since the pb and honey could be runny. You could also try using a finely ground nut powder, like almond flour, or some other dry ingredient with a fine texture.

just FYI - I made them with a blob of peanut butter, half that much honey, and stirred in powdered soymilk til it was a consistency that I could roll in my hands without sticking. It was a hit with the kids! I thought it tasted rather sugary, but interesting.
