The Monk Finale

So ... did anyone else find it to be not entirely satisfying? For me it was just kind of like: "DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA ... whoops! Everything's fine, now let's wrap it all up with an occasionally implausible bow and an obligatory montage."

I liked it, it was better than I expected. But, I had low expectations! The last couple of seasons were getting mediocre. I hated how mean he got towards Natalie last season and I just wasn't interested.

So they introduced and played out and explained the whole story of Trudi's death in just the last two episodes. Unfortunate, but I liked the story.

As far as series finalies go I liked it ok. It didn't blow me out of the water but I wasn't "FAIL!!!!!" like I was with some, I AM LOOKING AT YOU ENTERPRISE!!!!

That's my trouble ... I haven't watched much of the past couple of seasons, so I still had high expectations. : It was just a silly little character drama, I know that, but I thought it was one that had a lot of room to be creative in the end and just kind of ... wasn't.

(Also, Trudy was a reporter well aware of the disappearance of her midwife, but didn't read a single article pointing out that the midwife had made headlines before? And she agreed to go ahead and meet with someone who made her leery enough to make that tape in the first place? And on his last breath the judge's biggest concern in life was that Monk know Trudy's daughter was alive? And really, "Take care of her"? And her daughter was all "oh hey, sure, uncomfortably obsessive man who was married to my biological mother who I never met, come be a constant presence in my life, that'd be sweet!"? I don't know, y'all.)

The girl part was sweet but in no way was that satisfying as a series end after so long!

Highlight. Contains spoilers!

I was sitting there like "Really?" After this long, he pretty much had the dang answer?
It felt like it was wasted on actually being a show to me.

Did we know about Trudy's wrapped gift to Adrian prior to these last two episodes? I don't think so.

Yeah, it had been mentioned (and shown) in at least one episode before. I saw one the other day. I think it was the Secret Santa one.

I just had to wonder, though, if Trudy had given any thought to that gift plan of hers. She knew him pretty well, and I don't think she would have been too surprised at him saving it after she died.

Did anybody else expect something else in the box? After the beginning of part one, where Trudy asked about the midwife case and then acted all suspicious about the gift, I was sure she was pg.
