baby first teeth looking yellow

Hi all,

I don't remember seeing yellow on my sons teeth when they were erupting but DD1 teeth are just erupting and they are out the gums where you can feel them and look like they have yellow stains on them. She is breastfeed only...except for the stuff she might put in her mouth of course, she does licks and put everything in her mouth that she can find.

Has anybody experience this before?

Help

It could be the beginning of ECC (early childhood caries)/tooth decay. I think usually it starts a little later, after the teeth have come out all the way, but in some cases it's right at the very start.

You might want to have her checked out by a (ped.) dentist....and you might want to read up on ECC and start using some products to halt the decay if it is actually ECC. Spiffies with xylitol would be a good product to start with, just wipe her teeth with them several times a day.

For your and her sake I really hope that it isn't ECC.....but if it is, there are tons of threads on here about kids with ECC (my son has it, too), you can find a lot of information.

Just incase anyone was curious..

I took her to the dentist at it seem like it might be Dentinogenesis imperfecta it is a rare genetic defect. Her teeth that is comming up seems like it does not have the dentin in them so the teeth are not stained. We are seeing her nerves. It doesn't hurt. They are waiting to see if the next 2 will come out like that before they make a diagnosis. I really hope it is just those two teeths. She would require caps on her teeths if it is that defect.
