Veg*n and Shedding Da Pounds!!! - Page 2

Hi everyone! I've been a veg*n for 15 years and joined WW over this past summer. So far I have lost 32lbs, and have another 12lbs to go.

one of my favorite night time snacks is: 1 cup of frozen blueberries with 1/2 cup of soymilk poured over them. Very filling, satisfying and only 2 points. Plus it takes a long time to eat. Another friend of mine loves snacking on frozen grapes at night.

I'm off to google that falafel recipe!

Welcome Kristin! Congrats on the weight loss. That's a big accomplishment!
I love blueberries. That's an awesome idea. They are tasty AND they are nutritious. They count as a fruit serving and one cup is only 1 point ladies!
I've been doing so so. I'm at that point ( already ) where I am frustrated and deprived. I LOVE baked goods and to find a decent low fat, vegan recipe for any baked good is proving to be difficult. And I ate a veggie sub and french fries on wednesday to the tune of 28 grams of fat. That meal alone was more than I should have eaten in points for the entire day. I was shocked. A veggie sub was 28 grams of fat!!!! So we shall see what the scale says tomorrow. I'm almost afraid to look.

Thanks Ambereva for your support and your tips! They are much appreciated!!!!
How is everyone doing? My weekend was crazy ( I'm moving in 2 weeks so I'm packing and cleaning) but have managed to stay within my point system while eating.Last night I made the cornbread that Kimber posted about on the December meal thread : http://vegweb.com/index.php?PHPSESSI...7&topic=5730.0

The only thing I did different was use applesauce instead of oil. This recipe was awesome. Soooooo easy and super yummy.
And on a fanstastic note I did my weigh in yesterday and lost another 4.5 pounds. So I've reached my first five pounds milestone. YAY!!!!
I know today is weigh in day for a few of you, check in and let us all know how you're doing.

WTG wytchywoman!!! 4.5 lbs!!!! That is amazing this time of year, I'm so proud of you.

I'm struggling, had a family holiday party at my house Friday, so I got most of the left overs, not so good........

Anyway, I'm not giving up, I'm up and tracking today. I'm just hoping not to do any more damage this week.

wytchywoman, are you going to meetings? How much have you lost so far?

Thanks Anna! This time of year is really hard. A few things I've found that have helped me are to really emphasize portion control. I don't refuse food but I limit the amount I eat. That's a big one for me. I'm also carrying around some of those mini candy canes in my purse. That way when I see aaaaalllllll the cookies and cupcakes and chocolates at work, I can munch on one of those and not feel too deprived. Is it as good as a chocolate chip cookie? nope, but it does work and three of them are only one point.
I also keep reminding myself that as much as I want to eat that chocolate cupcake, I want to lose weight even more. That usually does the trick to keep me away from the sweets.
I do WW online. I seriously do not have time for meetings. I think I would probably benefit from them but it just wouldn't work out for me to try and commit to going to one every week. I love the convenience of the online tools and the forums are pretty good for support.

Wytchywoman, its about portion size for me as well. That is the one big thing that WW has helped me with, totally changed how I view portion size now.

A friend of mine used to repeat: "Do I want that food so bad I am willing to wear it?"

I lost a pound this week!

Yay Kristin!!!!

I like what your friend said. It's totally true. I knew I did a lot of mindless eating before but I didn't realize just how much until I started keeping track. I definitely eat to entertain myself when I'm bored, and I eat waaaaaayyy too much of it.

Well mamas, the bad news is that I went to see a surgeon on Thursday and I have to get my gallbladder taken out. I begged and pleaded with him to try and delay the surgery until mid-March, as I will already have to take time off of work to stay home with my son and don't have enough paid time off to do both. He said that if I could hang in there and the pain wasn't too bad that he'd be willing to delay it BUT........I'd better behave myself, especially over the holidays. So my fat intake has to be totally minimal for the next three months so that I don't instigate a gallbladder attack. The good news is that I should lose a ton of weight by march
So if any of you have any recipes for no/low fat vegan foods, especially main dishes, please, please, please spam me with them. I have no idea what I am going to eat for the next three months and Yule is just 2 days away. I definitely don't know what I am going to eat then.

Check in mamas. Let's hear how you're doing. This is a tough season to lose weight and watch what you eat so come on in if you need some support!

I've been MIA! Everyone is doing so well, I however have been awful! We've been uber busy at work (many more babies due yet) and I've been in overdrive getting ready for my MIL to come visit.

Wytchy I'm so sorry to hear about your gall bladder! Talk about incentive though! Have you checked the Fat Free Vegan blog for ideas? She's so good!

So I've got to get better. We're snowed in... so shoveling snow is exercise right?

Snow shoveling is actually really good exercise! That pumps up the heart rate pretty quickly. Sorry you are so swamped at work though. Hopefully things will settle down a bit for you soon. I discovered the fat free vegan blog yesterday and am in heaven. She has tons of recipes on there that fit exactly what I am looking for.
Well weigh in was today and I lost one pound. The happier part of it is that I have lost 25% of my weight loss goal which makes me extremely happy!
So what is everyone eating for Yule/ Christmas? Those days are the tough ones because there is always a ton of food around to tempt us. I am making a Skillet Gardener's Pie ( http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2008/05...eners-pie.html ) , Asparagus, Cranberry Sauce ( just opening up the can on that one ) and a pineapple coffee cake for dessert (http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2006/07...ffee-cake.html )
Not sure yet what I am going to do with the asparagus, perhaps just steam it and put a little salt and earth balance on there?
Anyway....share your holiday menus ladies. Hope we all have a fabulous week ahead!!!

Well I'm not doing so good........

But I don't want to give up. I really want a jump start on the new year.

So, here is another Monday.....and another start day....

Well, I made cookies most of Sun am for a music recital Sun afternoon. Need I say more.

So, I pulled out a old WW tracker, and I'm ready to write. sigh........

Anyway, I'm glad your still on board Kimber47. And I'm so sorry about the up coming surgery wytchywoman, if you lose weight could that possibly cancel the surgery???

On a happier note, congrads wytchywoman for losing a pound in these difficult sugar filled days!

Hi Anna, Right there with you on the bandwagon. Aside from holidays AND packing/getting ready to move tomorrow, I am PMSing and was really in a crappy mood this past week. So how do I fix it? Donuts!!!!! I'm back on track again and I was absolutely gobsmacked yesterday to find out that I lost 1/2 pound this past week. I was fully expecting to have packed on at least 2-3 pounds because I pretty much ate nothing but crap all week long. Guess all that packing and cleaning helps me burn off the calories
Anyway< the big move day is tomorrow, and I don't know if I'll be back online before new years so...here's to all of us. To a very happy and successful 2010 for each of us.

Ok Happy New Year to Everyone!!

Well, I'm up 2 lbs. So off to tracking, and eating better.
Happy New Year all!

Ok, so I've been MIA. I've been preparing for the coming year and here's what I've done:

I cannot believe I actually signed up for a Biggest Loser Support Group! It's at the local community center. We weigh in and measure in front of everyone on Tuesday! This is so not like me!

I also signed out for a Zumba class at the Y. It's $8 a class so I don't have to pay ahead. I can't find something like that anywhere else that works with my crazy ass call schedule! I am so shy when it comes to things like this. And honestly I'm not even sure what Zumba is. LOL

So today I've weighed this morning and HOLY MOLY! How does it come back so fast? I'm thinking I should work on decreasing cortisol in my body through stress relief and sleep! (Of course working nights as a natural baby catching nurse makes it difficult!) My goal for the year is 58.6 pounds. I lost 80 before, so I feel like I can do it. I came up with this number by adding the weight I've gained and the weight I never got to lose the first time together. Just not sure why I keep losing incentive.

I'm going to the book store to buy a fresh and purdy notebook to use as my diet and exercise diary. I'll do WW again at home.

Thanks for allowing me to come along with all of your journeys!

How did everyone fare during the last big holiday of the year?

ETA: Have you guys used this website for calculating? It's a wonderful resource for tallying recipes! Nutrition Data
post #36 of 38
Well, I gained a pound. Which I think is okay and I shouldn't beat myself up about. Yeah, I'm with you Kimber, how in the world does it come back so fast? I indulged a little but not overboard.

Kimber- I am totally in love with Zumba. It is the most fun I have had in a long, long time. It's a latin dance fitness class. It's a great workout, I always leave covered in sweat. And I leave with a huge smile on my face. One suggestion I have would be to search around and find an instructor that you like, don't feel stuck with a so-so instructor. Zumba really helped shake up my workouts, which helped me keep losing weight. And I was pretty nervous and shy for my first class- but you just have to get over it- no one cares what you look like dancing- just dance for yourself.

I've got 12 more pounds to lose, which doesn't feel like much, but at about a pound a week, is going to take me a few more months.

How's everyone doing?

Just checking in to say I've lost 4 pounds! Purdy happy about that one! I've started walking the mall in the mornings that I don't work all night the night before. It's been nice. Hoping to pick up more time at the gym this week too.
