No, as in you don't know? Or no as in they taste totally different.

I would smell it. Cilantro is so distinctive that you really can't mistake it for any other herb. Then when you get home, once you've washed it, you can taste it to be sure. However, the aroma of it is so unique I doubt you could mistake it for anything else.

THey have different flavors.

You can sub for them, but expect the dish to taste different. It is stronger than cilantro.

Cilantro looks much like flat parsley--
Culantro looks more like dandelion leaves--or small hearts of romaine--long --oval like--I have never bought and cooked w. culantro--I know it's big in the carribbean...

Velochic,

Unfortunately they are pre-wrapped. All the herbs are on green trays and wrapped in saran wrap. So I can't smell it. But, next time I am there I will talk with the produce person. I did ask the one time I was there and the kid putting the herbs out said he didn't know.

But this place is awesome. They have so many things I have never seen or heard of from all different countrys. Alot of in foriegn languages. I mean if you live in NY its probably a fairly common type of store. But in the Midwest it isn't.

Yep. I do know difference. Thats why I questioned it because the store actually has it labeled incorrectly. Which I am going to point out to them next time I am there. It says Cilantro eventhough its clearly Culantro.

I always have to sniff Cilantro when I am at the regular grocery store. Because it looks so like Italian Parsley.

Just googled and found these pics that show the difference.
