URGENT! Need breastfeeding resources in Columbus Ohio!!

My friend just gave birth to her first child, she's located in Columbus, Ohio. She had a c/s birth and is having having issues with birthweight, and breastfeeding isn't going so well. Does anyone know of any nearby LLL people? Any other sources I can send her? She's really exhausted and crying. I'm all the way in Cali, otherwise I'd be helping her. Anyone know of people there who could help her out, check for latch/tongue tie issues?

HELP!

Ami

ETA: She's at Dublin Methodist Hospital, if that helps any? No clue where exactly that is.

You can try Bonnie Cable at Mt. Carmel East. I haven't worked with her, but I have many friends who say she is awesome. (614)234-8130

I hop she gets the help she needs. You could also point her toward forum.columbusapvillage.com It's a local group of ap mamas, and they might have some more recommendations.

Thank you everyone! I sent her some resources. The breastfeeding is going better, he's actually latching on! Her milk still hasn't come in yet, so she started supplementing with a bit of formula each feeding--he's already lost more than 10% of his weight, which was why she was freaking out. Everyone came home today, and so far, so good! She feels tons better too.

Thanks again!

I just wanted to add that 10% could be artificially inflated due to IV fluids during her CS. In other words babies birth weight slightly higher due to the extra fluids so it looks like he lost more than he actually did. My son got mostly formula in the hospital and STILL lost 10% so sometimes it just happens.

Hopefully she's checking diapers for a more accurate output and her milk has come in. And tell her to be careful with the supplementing, it has caused many breastfeeding relationships to fail. I hope she got some help.

If she still needs help, you can PM me for my phone number. I live about 1 1/2 hours outside of Columbus, so it would probably be difficult for us to get together in person, but I'm a CAPPA trained lactation educator, so I'd be more than happy to help her in any way that I can.
