Just an update -- I tend to like to eat the same thing in the morning for breakfast, and don't have much time to cook as I've got three kids to feed and two to get out the door for school. I've discovered a couple of great things:

1) I can cook steel-cut oats in my programmable rice cooker! I can set the exact time I want them done. I know this can be done in a slow cooker as well. I don't use milk, just water, as I don't want milk sitting out/kept warm to avoid any bacterial growth issues.

2) I've been adding 2 tbsp each of: hemp protein powder, almond meal, and ground flaxseeds to my oatmeal along with (frozen, defrosted) blueberries and kefir. I don't know whether it's the protein or the fiber or both, but this is keeping me so satisfied all morning (without overstuffing me at breakfast!)

I second the rice protein powder. A good (vegan) brand is Nutribiotic. They make plain, vanilla, berry, and chocolate. It's not certified organic, but the label does say non-GMO and pesticide, herbicide, and PCB free. It's also got all 18 amino acids.

I put two tbsp. in my smoothie every morning, and that's 24g. of protein before I add anything else to the smoothie.

You could also use this protein powder in breakfast cookies, muffins, banana bread loaves, etc. Make a batch of any of these on the weekend, stick them in the freezer, and grab something on your way out the door in the morning.
