Pregnant, 35 and older - DECEMBER - Page 3

Hi everyone, I haven't been around for awhile because I have been busy nesting and the like...

Anyway an update: I'm at 37 weeks now and started having regular BH contractions a couple of days ago. They feel wonderful. I couldn't help but smile, because this is the closest I've ever felt to giving birth and holding this little one.

It feels so right!

Hi everyone. I just got confirmation from my doctor this morning that I am pregnant again! I'm excited but also really wigged out (I've had two early, unexplained miscarriages). Five or six weeks, they say.

ears73, wow, exciting! you've got me thinking, what will i have around to read at that time?? i hope you find ways to enjoy this time (?). you can imagine smacking me for saying so, if that makes you feel better.

hi abigailgrace, wondered where you'd gone. bleh, i hate taking suppliments. are you able to eat any blood-building foods? i know i've been craving them.

my sister is 39 weeks today, and my parents are flying in to stay with me for a week! at her 40 week mark, we'll be going to her whether she's gone into labor or not. i'm so excited for the next few weeks!!! my baby is kicking a lot, going strong.

wondering: i posted this in my ddc, but no one seems to have much info... i've been feeling less hungry lately, not snacking most days, and eating regular (3) meals, not in large portions at all. the other day i ate supper at 7 pm and wasn't hungry til 9am the following day.

so i'm wondering (and i know our digestion is working more slowly during pregnancy), does the placenta spread out transfer of nutrients to the baby, or could my baby experiencing gaps and possibly "hunger," not necessarily felt, but in terms of nutrition for growing? i'm fascinated by the physiology, but can't seem to find info. if i SHOULD be making a point to eat smaller meals more often i will, but so far i've just let my body take the lead, eating when i'm hungry.
I am that way most of the time. Have been for the entire pregnancy. Most days, I eat because I am making food for the other people in my family, not because I am hungry. My MW said that sometimes that can be a sign of low iron, although not always. I think I am doing ok with iron (take Floradix, eat plenty of iron-containing foods, etc.), so I think it is more likely that I am just not hungry. She also said to make sure I eat several small meals each day, make sure they are nutrient dense, not junk, and have the occasional snack. I am gaining weight just fine, so apparently, I am getting enough to eat. It helps that I can't really stomach sweets or junk food, so pretty much everything I eat is good food.

I just turned 35 last week and dh will be 38 when this little one arrives .
~a little background~ I am still in shock...

Dh and I have been blessed w/ 3 dc, dd1 almost 9, ds is 6.5 and dd2 is 2yo. We have battled infertility, secondary infert, and again. I have pcos and am annovulatory w/out intervention and even then...
I had 2 mcs between my ds and littlest one~ who also began with a twin.
We were content with our 3 ~ always hoped for A SURPRISE somewhere down the rd but never believed it would happen, I have started working a few hours here and there at a small business I was/am interested in co-owning~ buying out a current co-ownwr. We have moved to our forever farm house over the summer and dh and I made a deal (to encourage me~ I've always battled my weight, and need to get back to something just for me) that I would get down 50lbs and he'd put up a newer barn and fencing and buy me a horse, we'd get our keets and hens and get the kids in 4h. I had horses years ago but traded up for babies LOL. I started running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we were planning time togetjher, dh and I~ i would be starting something great with this business move, something of mine.
Though dd2 is still nursing I've been back on track w/ af for 6 mos, a little late ddnt think much~ has she been nursing more??no, hmmmmm.... though I have pcos I am like clockwork just don't ov. and have whacked levels... usually LOL.

Grocery shopped night before last~ grabbed 1 test, not 3, not 5. ONE!! Pee! BAMMMMM! +++++++
We couldn't bel. our eyes, I have never been so deliciously shocked in my life!!!!!!!!
You must know I am 1 of those obsessive poasers, I've always started at 9dpo, I get my + before I miss af. I have aprox 38 +hpts from over the yrs, even the mcs~ it reminds me they were real .
This is one stick~ the most bright storng BFP I have ever laid eyes on!!
I am about 6 weeks now, due the 9th of Aug and am planning another unmed amazing hosp. birth w/ my mw that I adore!

CAN I REALLY BE HERE!?
My dh is absolutely stunned~ his first response was the horse has to wait, LOL and will this change the surprise Disney trip for June???? he was saving and planning knowing how badly I wanted to take our kids before they were much older. He is wigged out, he's nervous, he's a planner, we just always had to work so hard to get them here... this is so unlike anything ever in our realm before...
I am amazed. I am resolving myself to enjoy this pregnacy and not fear, I pray all will be well and believe it, be very Zen and just take this gift with great gratitude and run with it!
I'm so thrilled for you! When are you due?

May I join? I was 37 at the time of conception and will be 38 at the time of birth. Due Feb 14, 10 Can't say being AMA this time round has been any harder on me then my other pregnancies. My youngest just turned 5, so I haven't been preggers in a while but am thoroughly enjoying it this time round. Only real difference so far I find is that I've begun to tire more easily. Although at 31 weeks, I suppose that's par for the course anyways. So glad to be here!

Congratulations to all the newly pregnant!!!!!! What a joy!

I'm 37 weeks today ~ and my guy is still breech. Going to my first ever chiropractor visit today to get the Webster technique. I'm a little skeptical, but trying to keep an open mind. Wish me luck!!

Hello ladies. I am gaining a lot of weight. Right now I am at my normal giving birht weight and still have about 12 weeks to go. I am so heavy that I could even hoist myself up on the counter to get to the top of the fridge. (137 if anyone is curious--very heavy for me)

I am so incredibly tired this pg and everything is "normal" whatever that means. I am homescooling form bed with my 1st grader and my 6th grader is doing most on the computer. I really need to watch her because she loves to try to trick me on go on Fiest games while she should be working. Explaining how I need to keep her ahead because of a March birth is not getting through to her and removing the perogram is gettingme nowhere. To tired to fight and as made as I get to find they have downloaded it again even though I have passworded the admin account and blaocked a buch of stuff in their account they outwit me! Must be preggo brain.

Hi all
Just checking in to say hello, still pregnant. Feels like I might be until next week. No imminent signs, just lots of tightenings. Still have good movement from baby and feel good. I see my doc on the 22nd (assuming I'm still hanging in there) for an NST and checkup.
Mamaintheforest Did the Webster technique work? Do you know if babe is frank or footling?
ZonapellucidaAny ideas why your weight gain is high this time? How's your BP?
Welcome newly pregnant or just new members! Hooray for "experienced" mothers

Please add me to the "Pregnant" list.

Age at conception: 36
Age at delivery: 36
Partner's age: 30
EDD: 8/6/2010

I'm feeling so very blessed - I haven't had any morning sickness, no negative symptoms really other than some breast tenderness and tiredness on and off. I was able to go off caffeine without a single headache, and even got an energy boost from it! I'm still very new to this but I'm so glad I'm not sick 24/7 - I am by nature one of those people who has stomach issues, headaches and pick up every bug that comes along - so to be this healthy and feeling this good I'm so thrilled!

gon2be ~ thanks for asking! He WAS complete...meaning his legs were folded sort of in a sitting position, but now he's TRANSVERSE. I'm so utterly bummed. I'm giving him one more week and then I am having a version. I really wanted to avoid that because it seems scary and I worry about it, but if I want to homebirth I'm going to have to try it. BUMMED!!!

I have another Webster technique this Saturday, but I really don't think it's that effective. I think it's more effective for people who have tight abdominal issues...which I do not.

Updated to here.

Greetings to the newbies!

Am 30 weeks now. Just did a yoga session and I was able to breath, better then previously, during a couple poses. Could it be that the baby dropped a bit!

That has been the hardest thing for me during this pregnancy, stifled breathing! ANd fatigue, but I always feel energized after a briskwalk or yoga.

Don't give up hope! They can turn so late, even in labor. What does your midwife say? Does she have a cut-off date for babe being head down?
AFM, I'm keeping busy. Had a bit of bloody mucous , which in past births has been 24-48 hours before babe made it's appearance. Maybe I'll have a baby in my arms by this weekend. In the meantime I'm cooking my turkey today-I haven't cooked one in over five years- so it should keep me occupied and my mind off going into labour!!

my littlest was complete at 36+ weeks. my mw recomm. a chiro and accup. for the webster and accupuncture (which I never needed) as the by the 4th visit to my chiro to perform the webster my babe turned and engaged!! don't give up the ship~ they know what they are doing in there. You still have time

hi everyone, and welcome new members! !

mamabearsoblessed, i enjoyed reading your story - how fun not to have to do the TTC obsession! sounds like it's only a matter of time before you and your husband move beyond the shock . i think i would love a surprise baby too, but not in this house (thinking down the road...)!

greenteaginger, yay! glad to see another april DDC mom here. sorin posts occasionally, but she's only an occasional poster in april either, so you may not "know" her... to you both!

thank you everyone who answered my "how often to eat" question. i guess my default is to trust my appetite, as long as i'm not overdoing it. like some of you, i'm also craving healthy foods. i really would LOVE to learn more about placental physiology, but i don't want to have to read an OB text to do it... not even sure what research is possible/has been done into this anyway. anyway, i am adding more fruit to my diet, my one change/improvement right now.

NEWS: my sister went into labor at 39+1 with her first! she called me the day after my parents got in the country, having 15-second contractions, STRONG, about 30 seconds apart - we were both wondering, what happened to that relaxed "early labor" time?? she had that baby out in 5 1/2 hrs! fortunately, she had EXCELLENT support (midwife plus two experienced assistants) for her home birth, who helped this intense labor not be too overwhelming or shocking for her or baby.

we totally missed the birth, which i was supposed to be there for, b/c we (parents and i) were driving 4 hrs. but then i got to stick around for almost a week to help out, and it was pretty blissful. she's doing so well as a new mom, and i learned a lot, about what i already know and feel confident about (surprising) and got confirmation about who/what i think i will need after our birth.

great to see newborn attachment parenting in practice. we were both raised CIO, and with the belief that even newborns sleep "better" when they are "left alone," but have been educating ourselves differently. watching the gift of constant touch and cuddling unfold in a newborn-mom relationship up-close is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

really overwhelming time, in a good way. it makes me SUPER excited for all of you who are about to or have just welcomed your new little ones!!!

advent is a magical time for babies, that i now know. for sure.
