My LO has just turned a year and there has been consistent improvement in his sleep so I just wanted to share & say hang in there mamas.....
At 6 months, he woke every hour all night long, and often every 20 minutes for part of the night. At 10 months he started sleeping 2 and sometimes 3 hour chunks. For the past 6 weeks, his new "regular" pattern is 2-4 wakings a night, down from 8-12!!!. He regularly sleeps a 5-6 hour stretch, not every night, but often enough that I have lost count.
He has also had upsets - last week he woke almost every hour for a few days, and then had one truly terrible night, probably due to congestion and teething.
But then he slept a 6 hour stretch again last night!
So, my feeling is that it is gonna stay up and down and it may get bad again for awhile but we now know for certain that there CAN be drastic improvement without any crying. If he could go from sleeping 1 hour in a row to 6, I am confident that when he is ready, he will sleep even longer.
I am so proud that we never made him CIO. It has been rough but worth it.
