beans from a can? - Page 2

I occasionally buy canned beans, but mostly cook beans from dried... and my way is like, SUPER lazy: Sort/rinse beans. Put in crockpot. Add water to . 1/2-1" from top of crock (I do ~4-5 cups beans in a standard crock and ~3 or so cups in a smaller one I have). Turn on HIGH. Cook for 6-12 hours. Eat. If you want to add a bit extra flavor, add a strip or two of kombu or an onion cut in half. SUPER easy!!

EDIT: If you want to add spices do so at the end - the last hour or so. I do this for black beans, but pintos I just do w/ onion and kombu (though I forget the kombu often..)

Beware, though, that sage is known to reduce milk supply. It has been used by centuries by women trying to dry their supply.
I've always had an oversupply problem and I do remember reading that when I was looking around for help on ending ongoing engorgement last time. We don't eat a ton of it (or drink it as a tea) but I do appreciate the reminder!
