G Diaper Users

So I use G Diapers and am a big fan. Although I don't like the fact that I can't use the toilet to flush it down or compost it because I live in an apartment. So to be even more ecofriendly I decided I wanted to use their hemp cloth inserts. But was astounded when I saw that I had to pay close to sixty dollars for just twelve inserts!

I was planning on using the cloth at the house and when we went out to use the biodegradable refills [for the convenience of throwing them away] but I just didn't want to spend THAT much money on cloth inserts.

So I went to walmart for some holiday shopping and they hard Gerber Organic cloth diapers on sale for eleven dollars for twelve! And guess what..you can fold them up and they fit PERFECTLY in the snap in liner. They are also pretty absorbent and it's a much more affordable.

Just wanted to let you guys know in case you were planning on buying the hemp inserts but didn't want to pay such a high price.

The only downside is the gerber organic diapers are cotton. Hemp is MUCH more absorbent than cotton.

Ooohhh! Thanks for the information -- I was just looking at prices for inserts. I just started my stash today and feeling excited about it! I got 2 g-diapers at a consignment sale with some sposie inserts and 3 liners for $5! I've only looked casually at the options, but this deal seemed too good to pass up. I'm glad that you're a fan

I have been using Gerber prefold with my gdiapers and for the most part have no problems. My son has been straddling between the mediums and the larges and I have noticed some leaks with the larges, so he might not quite be big enough for those yet. I also love that the gerber ones are so inexpensive that I don't have to care much about them. I keep a dry pail and don't do much other than a second rinse in the washer. If they get stained, I'm definitely not going to cry. Oh, and for those of you with new babies, Gdiapers just came out with newborn size! Very exciting!

thanks for the tip! I love our gDiapers but had not gotten the cloth inserts yet because of the price. I already have some Gerber prefolds and will have to try this today.
