Homemade or frugal laundry detergent?

Apparently the fels naptha in my homemade laundry detergent is making my diapers repel.

Can you recommend a good frugal detergent, whether homemade or purchased?

I make the homemade stuff with Ivory instead of the fels naptha and it works fine on my covers. I do use the whole bar instead of 1/3 as the recipe says.

My recipe:
1 bar of Kirk's Castile Soap
1 cup of Borax
1 cup of washing soda
a cap of essential oil (right now I'm using Eucalyptus)

It works great (for my PFs and regular laundry)- everything is so soft and dipes are fluffy and absorbant.

I have tired all the previous mentoned recipes & they all caused build up. Now ( & for the last 5 ish months) I have used charlies soap. My dd has very sensitive skin it works great & no build up.

we get build-up due to hard water, and so I use vinegar in an extra rinse. It gets them clean and soft every time.
