Breast redness that isn't a plugged duct?

After a long sleeping stretch 2 nights ago, I got pretty engorged and painful on one side. I got in a hot tub and worked out some milk and later used a pump and massage.

I keep thinking I had a plugged duct but I can't feel a thing. It is tender in the whole upper quadrant of the breast but I have been massaging it during nursing, applying heat, and pumping if she hasn't eaten enough.

Could the redness be something else or residual from having had a plugged duct for just a few hours?

It doesn't "feel" plugged, I just have slight tenderness and the redness.

Any hints?

You could have had a plug that you got out. IME when I have had a plugged duct even when I get the plug out its still tender for a few days. Watch for fever & flu like symptoms, the redness to spread or pain to increase if anything gets worse Id be seen.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. I can feel that the breast feels "normal" it's just a touch tender and red.

Yeah that ^^ keep an eye on things and maybe continue with the massage and heat for a couple of days just in case. Hope you're feeling better soon.
