This creeps me out a bit. It's not as bad as, but is in the same vein as, the people who assert that bad things happen to people because they didn't "manifest" properly. I get why people say stuff like that to kids who want to believe in Santa and are having doubts because they've learned that other people don't believe in Santa. But other than as a joke, I don't think it's entirely right to say that to another adult.

DD is 7 and decided she believes in Santa (and the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny). She knows Santa isn't real, but she loves to play pretend and to her Santa is just like playing pretend. DH and I go along with it, just like we do all of her other pretend games.
