Hi! we need advice.. i have to go back to work for a few days/ then PT after new years.
i have an overabundance of milk, dd handles it ok, we do one side per feeding.
any recommendations about pumping for the 2 days i have to go back? i'm scared to make even more milk, but i'll be needing some for next month too...
how/when should i pump to minimize problems? after she eats? the other boob, etc?
many thanks -- (she's a month old)

Sorry, are you only looking to pump enough for 2 days, then not worry for a while, or pumping on a regular schedule?

If you're just looking for a little stash to get you through two days of work, then I would pump the breast your LO does not eat right before her longest stretch of sleep. But you'll get other recommendations. If you have time, just pump like 2 oz. extra/day, that way your body won't really amp up the production too much. And if your DD is not used to bottles she may not take much while you're gone anyway, so pumping and storing in smaller quantities will preserve your stash and allow your caregiver to offer milk more often.

HTH. You'll find good info on pumping for/at work in the Working and Student Parents forum too!

When I was starting to build up a freezer stash before going to work, I would pump right after DD's first feeding of the morning. I didn't notice that it caused a noticeable increase in my supply.
