...that aren't for chili or pea soup Anybody want to share? I can cook vegetarian dishes with beans and meat-containing dishes without beans but am sort of at a loss combining beans and meat.

I don't have the recipes on hand but they would be easy enough to find:

couscous with meat and chickpeas

minestrone with beef and beans

chickpeas and chorizo

lamb and bean stew with rosemary

cassoulet - beans, sausage and/or duck with white beans

black beans and ground beef served with rice, sour cream etc

I make black beans and sausage. Super easy, soak the black beans over night, then rinse and add a can or two of diced tomatoes (or fresh) and cook for about 8 hours in the crock pot. Then I brown up some sausage - you can cook it in the crock pot too, but i like it crispy - and put that on top of a bowl of beans and brown rice! Yum.

Pasta Fagioli - this recipe is delicious, and it's in the crock pot too.

From the very same website as above: Cowboy beans.

You can probably add some sauteed ground meat to any of your otherwise vegetarian bean recipes.

You can also cook beans as a side dish to serve alongside any meat meals- either in a pilaf with grains, or by themselves as another dish on the table.

Red beans and rice with andouille

Any sort of Mexican food--tacos, tamales, tostadas, enchiladas, gorditas, sopes, you name it.

Hummus as a side dish with kofta kabobs

Taco soup (sort of like chili, but soupier)

Cincinatti chili (sort of like chili, but not)

hoppin' john with some ham in it

You can always sub half of the ground meat called for in a recipe with beans.

black bean soup

Here is a version close to what I make. Insanely good. I could eat the whole pot by myself. My own recipe differs in that I use: 12 strips of thick bacon, one average sized onion, one big can (28 oz) of tomatoes 2 small cans (15.5 oz) of black beans, doubled the chili powder and ketchup, omitted the cilantro and lime (didn't have it when I made it the first time around and its fine without). I think I might use a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, but I am not sure. Its been a while since I made it. Hubby is not a fan (his mom never made anything like that and so he is not going to eat it ).

I made beef stew the other day and just added black beans to it to draw it out a bit longer. It was good and more filling too
Also I have a recipe that we call rabbit stew that is just hamburger, stewed tomatos, onion, bacon, beans and anything else you have in the fridge. All cooked in a covered pan on the stove. I dont know why it has been called rabbit stew, its a passed down recipe, but its pretty good!
