Question about a friend (3rd child)

She wasn't dilating fast enough for the doctor on her first child and was forced into a c/s. (Yeah, I was mad for her and this was before I knew her)

She wanted to try a vbac with the second but chickened out and had another c/s...

She's currently preg with her 3rd and is saying that, because it's her 3rd, she HAS to have a c/s...

Is this true??

No. Not true.
Check out the ican website and also the vbac forum for wise Mamas with experience.
That being said VBAC is sometimes not that important to others. I am close with someone who had a breech CS, tried vbac, failed due t "failure To progress" (what with her being on some weird hospital schedule?!) and went on to have an elective c for her third. She was informed and was quite happy with her choices. She had positive births, great BFIng relationships and was just fine with it. So not everyone is determined to have vbacs, but can sometimes feel obligated to justify their choices.

She said the state of North Dakota doesn't allow vbacs for the 3rd child AND the hospital in town doesn't allow them flat period the end.

UGHH I'm so frustrated for her. She sent me the diluted version of her birth story for her first child and it was HORRIBLE

After further research a vbac is possible but she's afraid of the risks...

Research, research, research.... That's the best way to address these fears. Some good books. Off the top of my head I am thinking the book silent knife is a helpful book. And ican will have great resources.
