OB/CNM for vaginal breech, PDX area?

So, I have an increased chance of having a breech baby. Like, significantly enough increased that we need to make a plan, in case. There are no OBs in all of WA who will do a vaginal breech, but I've heard that there are OBs in OR who will. We've been thinking that the 3 hour drive (not during labor, we'd come down at 37ish weeks) would actually be worth it, to try to avoid surgery.

Does anyone know of a CNM or OB who does vaginal breech? Even if you only suspect that they do, or if they only do it for certain clients, I'd love a recommendation to them. I have "the perfect pelvis" for a vaginal breech, have already had a vaginal birth, and my body is exactly the same as my mom's, and she birthed me, frank breech, naturally, in 4 hours. So I have a good chance of being approved by a HCP for vaginal breech.

Thanks in advance!

What about Jennifer Gallardo at Andaluz Waterbirth Center? I would totally see her if I had a breech baby that I wanted to birth vaginally. Many midwives here in Oregon will do vaginal breeches.

My MW has no problems delivering breech babies. Her name is Betty Ludlow, she's been practicing for over 30 years and she's amazing. If you google her name you can find her info

Are you open to home birth? A lot of the home birth midwives attend breech, I know Ellie Legare does and she's awesome

In regards to your post on our other board, you could use Ellie (hb midwife & birth in a hotel) since you have no where here locally to hb.

I have an email out to our ICAN chapter to see if they know of any OBs.

I would let someone use my home for an "away from home" birth in a heartbeat.

I would let you too, except I am due around the same time. So nice of you too offer that up Rachel!

There was an OB at OHSU who used to catch breech babies. Sig-Linda Jacobson, and maybe Dr Nichols still does.

I'd check these out. I'd call Emanual too ask the charge nurse if they have any providers that will attend breech births. They seem to be the most friendly natural birth hospital these days.

I have one more person who is still gonna get back to me.

I recommend Ellie as well as we actually had a successful frank breech home birth with her. She and her team are amazing, competent and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Ellie and Heather are willing to do whatever they can for the safety and well being of the mama and baby.

Hope this is helpful.

BTW, I know that Andaluz cannot do breech births, it is illegal in Oregon for midwives to attend breech births in center.

There are a few people in the Andaluz community that have on multiple occations offered up their homes as away from home, home birth places. They can also attend them at a hotel. There are several ways around the laws.

Andaluz midwives attend breech births just either at home or a hotel....

Linda Glenn, CNM, from Vivante Midwifery told me the other day that there are OBs at OHSU who will still attend breech vaginal births. She didn't give me names, and also made it sound as though you would have to "convince" them to do it but it's worth checking out.

I also was going to mention Ellie Legare but everyone else already has.

Oh, and hi. :-) I'm in your DDC!

Just had to come and add that Ellie and Heather caught my breech baby this last February. I can't say enough good about them!

Thank you everyone for all the advice. However, this is all no longer an option. Baby has a giant omphalocele (all abdominal organs are outside the body), and possibly other abnormalities. So, should baby survive to birth, we need to be right here (and having a c/s).

I hope everything goes the best it possibly can
